MY Tenacious, a tall sailing ship from the United Kingdom, that provides life changing adventures to persons with disabilities, stopped over in Nuku’alofa over the weekend before departing today Monday, 23 May.

A spokesperson from the Ports Authority said this morning the ship is owned by the Jubilee Sailing Trust in the UK. The international charity promotes integration by providing life-changing adventures to people of all ages, backgrounds and levels of physical ability to improve their self -esteem, building confidence and provide leadership skills.

MY Tenacious, had stopped over in Tonga for three-days to get provisions after arriving on Friday, 20 May at Vuna wharf.

Derek Leonard, the local agent said the vessel had 52 people with disabilities onboard between the ages of 22 to 83-years-old.

"While in Nuku’alofa, the crew enjoyed the local sights and entertainment and welcomed the Tonga Scouts Association onboard for a tour of the vessel. They provisioned with fresh produce and water and are now on their way to Apia, Samoa, with their final destination being Melbourne, Australia for the Tall Ships Festival."

The Trust is a registered charity dedicated to group of people working against the odds to make their dream a reality.
