Sacramento county resident Kali Kanongata’a (36) has captured international media attention after he video-recorded his partner giving birth to their son and live streamed it on Facebook. The video has since gone viral and has attracted over 273,000 views on Facebook. The video is not graphic as Kali films the upper body of his wife throughout the delivery.

Kali told local media, “I didn't notice it was on the public feed until someone said ‘Push, Push’ and it was my little cousin. We were just encouraging her to push and that she could do it and that she’s capable.”

Kali’s partner and proud mother Sarah Dome stated, "I thought he was just filming regular and he put it on live and I didn't know until the end so yeah, I was surprised."

There has been mixed reaction to the video with many viewers expressing delight while others saw it as inappropriate. Kali stated, "I don’t think it’s fair to pass judgement on to other people. Birth is a wonderful thing”.

Kali and Sarah named their baby boy Ngangatulelei He Kelesi.
