Taxi driver reports robbery by passenger [1]

A man who threatened and robbed a taxi driver of around $300 cash in Fangaloto, Tongatapu on Friday night 29 April is being sought by Tonga Police.

Acting Chief Superintendent Sisi Tonga said today the alleged thief was a passenger in the taxi. The driver was aged in 50s.

He said when the taxi stopped at the location in Fangaloto, the thief, who is said to be in his 40s, grabbed the driver, threatened him and demanded the cash. The passenger fled with cash taken from the driver. He was not armed with any weapon and the taxi driver was not injured.
