Wednesday, May 4, 2016 - 11:12

There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Gregory Paul Reynolds (47), the Tonga Police confirmed yesterday, after receiving a pathologist's report.

The post-mortem was completed on Friday, 29 April. The New Zealander, who died while visiting Tonga, was buried at Telekava Cemetery in Nuku'alofa, on Friday at the wish of his family.

Tonga Police have not released any further details of the post mortem report and the police findings, which have been referred to the Coroner. A date has yet to be confirmed for an inquest.

Mr Reynolds was a guest at Liku’alofa Beach Resort situated on the western side of Tongatapu. He was last seen on Thursday morning, 7 April, and was reported missing to police on Friday, 8 April when he failed to report for his courtesy van transfer to Fua'amotu International Airport.

His body was discovered by accident on Sunday, 24 April by two staff from Liku’alofa. This was after an extensive land and sea search was held for two-weeks and suspended on Thursday, 21 April.

Tonga Police stated they have conveyed their condolences to his family in New Zealand.
