Police officer suspended for misconduct [1]

A 35-year-old policman who has been suspended following alleged reports of misconduct on social media is under criminal investigation.

Tonga Police Commissioner Steve Caldwell confirmed the suspension notice served on the police officer on Tuesday, 12 April. 

"As the matter is now a criminal investigation it is not appropriate to offer any further comment at this time," he stated.

However, it is understood that this misconduct is in regards to an alleged video of this police officer that was uploaded on social media.
