China assists Ha’apai [1]

China provided water tanks and tractors worth around $157,000 pa’anga to help improve the education and agricultural sectors in Ha’apai, on 18 March.
The assistance included 15 water tanks for various Government Primary Schools in Pangai, Nomuka and Ha’afeva, while constructing new fences for GPS Nomuka, Lotofoa and Fakakakai.
The Chinese also committed to financing scholarships to students to be selected by the District Council, and two tractors were handed over the community in Foa.
Mr Wang Lushan, Counselor at the Chinese Embassy said China attached great importance to improving agricultural and educational sectors, which are key areas to the development of Tonga and its people.
The Governor of Ha’apai Mo’ale Finau and Veivosa Taka, Ha’apai 13 People’s Representative to Parliament thanked China for their assistance.
