Military brass attends TDS opening [1]

The new headquarters of the Tonga Defence Services was officially opened by HM King Taufa‘ahau Tupou IV on December 5.

HM King Taufa‘ahau Tupou IV opened the TDS HQ.

The new headquarters was rebuilt on the same site in Nuku‘alofa after the old headquarters was demolished before construction started in January this year.

The project was financed jointly by the Strategic International Policy Division of the Australian Defence (SIPDIV), and the government of Tonga costing $1.2m.

Visiting Tonga to attend the opening were military leaders from around the region.
