The 120th anniversary year of Seventh Day Adventist Church education in Tonga, on 4 December, was marked with the opening of a new Home Economic Classroom at Beulah College, Vaini by the Ambassador of China to Tonga, HE Huang Huaguang.

The refurbishing and the equipping of the new Home Economic Classroom was funded by the Chinese Government.

Lord Ma’afu, the estate owner of Vaini was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.

Ambassador Huang, on behalf of the Chinese government, expressed his joy for being part of the celebration. He said the new classroom would enhance the teaching environment at Beulah “and improve the skills of the students to better prepare for future employment.”

He said that the Chinese President Xi Jinping announced in September that China had committed $2 billion US dollars to set up South-South Cooperation Fund to help developing countries to achieve their 230 Sustainable Development Goals.

Theopening of the new classroom was attended by teachers, students, parents and ex students.
