Christmas holiday celebrations have begun in Nuku'alofa, despite the rainy weather, as children were treated to a special Christmas program by Digicel Tonga on Friday, 20 November at Digicel Square.
The biggest Christmas tree on the island, which was to be lit last Friday, was postponed to this week due to the bad weather. Nevertheless, children and their parents who turned out for the event were treated to dancing and singing of christmas tunes from His Majesty's Armed Forces band, the Royal Corps of Musicians.
Digicel Tonga CEO, Ronan McGrane said Digicel was happy to continue the traditions of bringing Christmas cheer to Tonga with the lighting of the biggest tree in the CBD.
The tree will be lit with Digicel’s new ‘We are Family' holiday song to reflect the global tradition of having families come together at this special time of the year.
