600 Tongatapu students compete for soroban prizes [1]

More than 600 young primary school students in the central and western districts of Tongatapu are competing in a regional soroban competition that will end on 25 August on the western district, with top students to enter a national competition in 2016.
For the eastern district (Vahe Hahake) top students in written exam were Mataiasi Lasalo, Sesi Falemaka, Telesia Toutai – Class 3 and Vuna Tu’ifua, Tou’anga Kaianuanu and Leseili Hakaumotu for Class 4 after competing on 20 August.
The top school in the Nuku'alofa district was GPS Hala-‘o-Vave with Lapaha placing first in the eastern district.
In the final round of the Tongatapu regional competition primary schools on the western district (Vahe Hihifo) will meet on Tuesday, 25 August.
The soroban competition is co-hosted annually by the Embassy of Japan and the Ministry of Education.
