Lots of healthy vegetables, tropical fruits and traditional food crops were on display at the ‘Eua Royal Agricultural, Fisheries and Industrial show held on Saturday, 15 August.
King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u opened the show at the Niu’eiki grounds in Angaha. The displays of abundant fresh produce showed off 'Eua's super size tomatoes, lots of varieties of lettuce and pumpkins, shiny capsicums, parsley, cauliflower, brocholli, cabbages, cucumber, eggplant, carrots, parsnips, radish, spring onions, chillies, green beans, coffee beans, vanilla, ginger, and peanuts, alongside traditional Tongan food crops and many different tropical fruits. It looks as if everything grows very well in 'Eua.
There were also displays of seafood and handicrafts along with some captive 'Eua parrots and an unhappy coconut crab.
The Royal Tour of the national shows will conclude in Tongatapu with a two-day event this week on August 21-22.
