Ha'apai soroban students go to nationals [1]

Six young students who topped the written examination in Ha’apai’s soroban competition on Thursday, 6 August in Pangai will represent Ha’apai Schools at the National Soroban Competiton in Nuku’alofa next year.
The students are Taitiana Palu, Tupou Leone, ‘Atalina Tano’a of Class 3, with Kesaia Muli, Mele Folau and Vaha’i Palu of Class 4.
Pangai Government Primary School placed first in this year’s competition followed by Fotu’a and Faleloa with 290 soroban students from Class 3-5 competing in the written, oral and flash examinations.
The regional soroban competition continues in Tongatapu on August 18, 20, 25 and in ‘Eua on 10 September, before regional finalists compete in the national soroban competition in March next year.
The event has been co-hosted annually by the Embassy of Japan and Ministry of Education and Training since 2010.
