Ikale Lager, a new beer for Tonga [1]

A new beer called Ikale Lager was launched by Crown Prince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukālala at the Small Industries Centre, Ma'ufanga, onFriday, 24 July.
Mark Gerrard, the Managing Director of the Royal Beer Company Ltd said the new beer is “an improved mix of Ikale Lager” a brand that Royal Beer brewed before it ceased production in 2010.
“As local goes, major difference is we pasteurised our beer - it lasts for six months,” said Mark.
The Ikale Lager will be marketed only in bottles but the company plans to produce produce pasteurised beer kegs soon, and their other bottle brand, Royal Beer.
Mark plans to export his products to Fiji and Samoa.
Tonga now has two breweries active at the Small Industry Centre, the Pacific Brewery Ltd. and the Royal Beer Ltd.
