With 52-days to go before the opening of the 15th Pacific Games on July 4 2015 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea's diverse people are passing the baton through many communities.
The colourful 100 days ‘Oil Search Pacific Games Baton Relay’ which began on 26 March reached the Porgera Goldmine on Sunday 10 May, after being flown there by helicopter.
From the Porgera goldmine it made its way by road to Surinki through Paiam and Laigam. In Paiam, the crowds were even larger with the baton team struggling to maintain control as the school children got very excited and crowded in.
The relay then headed up into Wabag for a town relay on Monday, 11 May.
Enga Province is situated in the north most region of the highlands in PNG.
The Pacific Games is expected to bring together some 3000 athletes and 500 team officials from 21 Pacific Islands, including Tonga.
