A celebration by the Kolovai-Australia community was held in Sydney on Friday 24 April in preparation for the coronation celebration on 4 July.
The Tongan High Commission in Canberra stated that Princess Latufuipeka thanked the people of Kolovai on behalf of her brother, Prince Ata for their charity and devotion to their roots. HM Tupou VI had previously held the title Ata before he became Crown Prince.
The princess made sentimental references to notable Kolovai sites such as Fala-‘o-Ata, Koka Sìtu’a, Taungapeka, Keitahi, Hala Totonu, Hala Mohuanga, Seti-‘o-e-Vaolongolongo and Toa-ko-Pouvalu.
The Tongan community in Australia contribute to Tonga's development through remittances to their families.
