FWC schools shine in athletics medal tally [1]

Tongatapu’s Free Wesleyan Church Schools dominated the medals tally for 19 competing schools in this years the Inter Collegiate Athletics Competition
The FWC Tupou High School took first place in the overall medal count, with 71 medals including 23 gold medals, in official results for the 91st Inter Collegiate Athletics Competition.
The FWC Tupou College came in second place with 64 medals but had the most gold medals with 27 gold.
The FWC Queen Salote College impressively won 17 gold medals, coming third in the gold ranking, while ranking fourth overall with 48 medals.
Lavengamalie Christian College of the Tokaikolo Church also did well this year, coming in third place overall with 56 medals including 16 gold.
The Tonga Government’s all boys school Tonga College won 31 medals including 16 gold, while Tonga High School was not far behind with 27 medals including 11 gold.
Outer islands
The small sports teams from the outer islands including Mailefihi/Siu’ilikutapu College, which represented Vava’u, took home seven medals, including five gold.
Ha’apai Secondary School won 15 medals in total, including one gold.
The smaller middle schools managed to get a few medals and avoided going home empty-handed.
Government Middle School Hihifo won one gold out of two medals, while GMS Hahake although had no gold won nine medals in total.
At the same time, Tupouto’a College from Nomuka, which competed for the first time, won two medals of silver and bronze.
However, the hot competition this year was without Liahona High School of the LDS church, which decided not to compete this year.
