Tongans from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra came together for an inaugural regional church service of the Siasi Konisitutone Tau‘ataina ‘o Tonga in Canberra on Sunday April 12.
The High Commissioner of Tonga to Australia, HRH Princess Angelika Lātūfuipeka Tuku‘aho, who spoke at the inauguration, reminded the congregation of the importance of unity and working together. She said that the Siasi Konisitutone Tau’ataina ‘o Tonga was established in October 1986 with the royal consent of the late King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV, who had also given a sermon at the inaugural church conference held at the Centenary Church in Nuku’alofa (February 1987).
The Canberra congregation is under the charge of Reverend ‘Aisea Tamo‘ua.
