Thirty new police recruits who were selected out of 230 applicants have started six-months basic police training in Nuku'alofa on Monday 23 March.
The Acting Police Commissioner Viliami ‘Unga Fa’aoa told recruits they have the responsibility to be role models at all times whether they are in uniform or off duty.
"...do your best and have the courage to do what is right," he told them at the recruitment ceremony at Police Headquarters in Longolongo.
The No.43 Recruits intake includes 20 men and 10 women who will graduate as Constables if they pass their written tests, physical training and field attachments to various district police stations in Tongatapu.
Tonga Police currently has 406 police officers and civilian staff members.
