A Shaolin Martial Arts Group from China demonstrated powerful moves during a special performance on Tuesday night March 3, at Queen Salote Memorial Hall.
 
The showcase attended by the Crown Prince Tupouto'a 'Ulukalala and Deputy Prime Minister Hon Siaosi Sovaleni is the first by the prestigious group in Tonga.

The Chinese Ambassador HE Mr Huang Huaguang said there are many branches of martial arts distributed around China but Shaolin is among the famous.

“It enjoys a unique status and has great influence in Chinese martial arts. The Shaolin Martial Arts Group have travelled to dozens of countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa to introduce the Chinese culture and are applauded by people all around the world.”

He said they are in the Chinese New Year season and this performance was part of the Happy Chinese Year Program.

“I believe the Shaolin martial arts delegation will further promote our cultural cooperation and improve the understanding between our two people,” he said.

The group consisting of 20 members, with the youngest only six-years-old, will leave for New Zealand on Thursday, March 5.
