A 38-year-old woman died on Saturday, February 14 at Vaiola Hospital after sustaining severe injuries from a road crash in Lapaha.

Police today said the victim from Ha'ateiho sat in the front passenger seat of a rental car that crashed into a power pole on the side of Taufa’ahau Road at around 6:00am.

She was rushed to the hospital but died on the same day.

At the same time, two other people including the 21-year-old male driver from Folaha and another woman passenger sustained injuries. They are reported to have recovered.

The driver has been charged with reckless driving causing death.

Police said although they were still investigating the cause of the car crash.
