‘Unga Fa‘aoa, Acting Police Commissioner [1]

Tonga’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Viliami ‘Unga Fa‘aoa has been made the Acting Commissioner of Police effective from 5 December, following the retirement of Police Commissioner Grant O’Fee.
The interview process of three candidates by a Judicial Appointments and Discipline Panel was completed late last month, however no date has been set for the naming of a new Police Commissioner.
Tonga Police today confirmed three applicants were interviewed for the top job including two Tongans and a New Zealander.
The appointment of the Police Commissioner rests with the King in Council.
