400 graduates ready for jobs [1]

Over 400 graduates from three Government Post-Secondary Education Institutes received their certificates and diplomas today during a combined award ceremony in Nuku’alofa.
The 18th Combined Award Ceremony for the Tonga Institute of Education (TIOE), the Tonga Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) and the Tonga Institute of Higher Education (TIHE) was held at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall with Hon Fanetupouvava’u Tu’ivakano, as guest of honour.
TIHE produced the most graduates, with nearly 200 receiving Certificates in the subjects of Information Technology (IT), Accounting, Media and Journalism; Agricultural Science; and Diplomas in IT, International Business, and Tourism Management; and one Bachelor degree in International Business.
TIOE awarded over 100 Diplomas in Education for the Primary, Secondary levels, including Initial Certificates in Teaching and Initial Graduate Certificates of Teachin.
Graduates from TIST received Trade Certificates in electrical engineering, automotive mechanics, general engineering, carpentry, panel beating and spray-painting.
The award ceremony marked the end of the school year for Post Secondary Education in Tonga, with a large pool of these students seeking employment in the New Year.
