Papua New Guinea cruised to a 32 – 18 victory over Mate Ma’a Tonga yesterday at Lae, PNG.

The Mate Ma’a Tonga were seeking to avenge a 44 – 14 loss to PNG in 2009. However, the game ended up being re-enactment of that defeat.

Mate Ma’a Tonga dominated the first half of the match. They scored three unconverted tries whilst PNG scored two converted tries making the half-time score even 12 – 12. But in the second-half PNG surged ahead with four tries while Tonga managed to score only one try, the end result 32 – 18.
