The Pacific Pearl cruise ship from Australia visited Nuku’alofa today with more than 2,300 passengers and crew on board.

The passengers, mainly Australians, were welcomed with entertainment by the Tonga Police Brass Band, a cultural dancing troupe and the Vinaka string band. They bought local handicrafts and goods from vendors at the wharf and visited the market and other shops in the CBD. The cruise ship was scheduled to depart this evening  for Norfolk Island.

This is the second last cruise ship out of 17 to visit Tonga this year. The final cruise ship for the year, the Europa, is scheduled to visit on December 13, according to the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and Labour.
