Tevita Palu (45) a local businessman will be contesting the parliamentary seat for Tongatapu Constituency No.3 in Tonga’s General Election on November 27. Tevita, from Fasi-moe-Afi, is the CEO of Tonga’s sole domestic air carrier Real Tonga and has made it known that he will register for the first time as a candidate on October 23-24.

“I believe this is the right time for me to run,” he said. “There is a need to develop this country in all aspects.”

He believed that many things had been said but not done.

“My top priority is to improve the livelihood and raise the morale of every person and family in my constituency. I believe have the right qualities to do this and run for my constituency. I am involved in my community and I know what they are struggling with,” he said.

For over 10-years, Tevita has been involved in the airline business with Palu Aviation Services providing maintenance for Tongan registered aircrafts and all scheduled international air carriers arriving at Fua’amotu International Airport.

He also runs a money transfer company, a petrol station in Vaini, an automotive and maintenance service, and a cargo service, as well as a charity foundation 'Pununga Mo’ui’ in Fasi that assists youth, elderly and disabled groups.

At the same time, there are four other unconfirmed candidates contesting for the Tongatapu 3 seat. The names of all candidates will be announced after the nomination dates on October 23-24.
