It was party time in central Nuku'alofa last night, 3 June to mark the beginning of the 2014 Heilala Festival.

The Hala Taufa'ahau in central Nuku'alofa was closed off to traffic from 6pm until mid-night to accommodate food, jingling stalls, and stages for electric bands, cultural dancers, preachers and demonstrations of martial arts.

It was a beautiful,cool evening, the beginning of a long weekend holiday to the 55th birthday of His Majesty King Tupou VI on 4 July.

The 2014 Heilala Festival program with the theme, "My Kingdom, My Home" runs from July 2 until Saturday, 12 July.
