Fire in Vuna Road, Nuku'alofa

An abandoned building next to the Emerald Restaurant on Vuna Road in Nuku'alofa went up in flames this afternoon.

Fire Commander Latu, the officer in charge said that they received an emergency call at 1:34pm today. “We got here in just under 5 minutes to find the house covered in flames,” he said.

Latu observed that because the house was an old wooden building “the fire caught on really fast.”

“We are just making sure that the fire does not spread to the neighbouring houses.”

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
