A 38-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the death of a man at the Digicel Square in central Nuku’alofa early Saturday morning, April 12.

Chief Inspector Tevita Fifita said this morning that the incident occurred around 6:00am Saturday morning at the square opposite the ‘Uliti Uata Building.

“Reports we have at this stage was that an argument occured between the victim and the suspect who was a security guard. A torch is alleged to have been used in the assault but we are still investigating the incident. The victim is said to have died before reaching Vaiola Hospital,” he said.

In the meantime, police are still waiting on family members to identify the deceased who is said to be over 20-years-old.
