Japan handed Mailefihi College an upgraded dormitory [1]

An upgraded dormitory for male students at the Mailefihi/Siu'ilikutapu College in Neiafu, Vava’u was handed back to the college by HE Dr Kazuchika Hamuro, the Japanese Ambassador to Tonga on Tuesday, 25 March.
The $153,728 (TOP) dormitory upgrading project was funded under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects.
Dr Kazuchika Hamuro expressed a sense of satisfaction that the upgrading project has completed, because before the project started, the school environment for the boys’ dormitory needed immediate attention to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
He said that access to good education is an extremely important component in any society, as it allows communities to grow and advance.
Mele Moimoi the Officer in Charge of the Outer Islands Schools of the Free Wesleyan Church FWC thanked Japan for the new facilities which will help students in their studies.
The Vice-President of the FWC Education Rev Dr Tevita Palefau joined students and parents at the ceremony.
