Man's body found in waterway next to Popua Park [1]

A body of a man was found dead in a waterway next to Popua Park this afternoon, 5 September.
Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said they received the report at around 12:45pm of the body discovered in the waterway near the Patangata area, next to the park.
The deceased had a tattoo on his chest with words "Vola Halasiti."
Police investingating the death are seeking to confirm the man's identity.
Somehow, photos of the deceased have leaked into social media.
“Photos of the deceased have been posted on Facebook and have been shared many times, and police are asking the public to refrain from sharing these photos. The dignity of the dead must always be respected."
He said the deceased had yet to be formally identified and the fact of his death had not been conveyed by police to his family at this early stage.
Police ask the public for any information that can assist them with their investigation or from anyone who knows of any missing person, to call them immediately at 922, or 23417 or visit the closest police station.
