All you need is Love, may sound old fashioned but it could easily be the theme for a global gathering that is to be held in New York this week, attended by a Pacific delegation.

The aim of the Peace Meeting is to prevent violent conflict throughout the world and build peace.

The Pacific delegation to the New York global conference, includes, 'Akilisi Pohiva, the Tongatapu No. 1 People's Representative to the Tongan Parliament; Rev, Akuila Yabaki of the Fijian Citizens Constitutional Forum, Nolene Babulivou, of the Women's Action for Change, Fiji; Judith Fagalasuu from the SICA Commission, Solomon Islands; James Tanis from the Bougainville People's Congress; Lilian Thaggards from CCF, Fiji; 'Ofa-ki-Levuka Guttenbeil-Likiliki UN Volunteer/CWL; and two academics, Carole Shaw from the University of New South Wales, and Graham Hassall from the University of the South Pacific.

In a press release from the Peace Meeting, Jone Dakuvula, the regional initiator for the Pacific said that the aims of the Conference were to adopt a global policy change agenda to achieve a shift from reaction to prevention of violent conflict. It also aimed to develop an implementation plan for the Global Action Agenda, with the commitment of Civil society organizations, the UN, regional bodies and governments.
