Japan provides emergency relief goods to Ha‘apai [1]

The Government of Japan will provide emergency relief goods including water tanks to assist relief efforts in Ha’apai following Tropical Cyclone Ian's destruction.

The relief includes portable Jerry Cans or water containers and water tanks worth $13 million yen (around TOP$213,500) including transporation charges, are expected to arrive in Tonga later this week through Japan’s International Cooperation Agency (JICA), for hand over to the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO).

The Embassy of Japan in Nuku’alofa stated on January 20  that, "In response to the request from the Government of Tonga, the Government of Japan will provide the emergency assistance from a humanitarian point of view for the victims and in light of friendly relations between the two countries."
