New team to drive Tonga tourism [1]

The new TTA president is Papiloa Foliaki, replacing David Hunt. The two new vice presidents are Sue Gardner and Semisi Sika. They took over from Fakatele Faletau and Sitafooti 'Aho.
The new secretary is Kololiana Naufahu, replacing 'Iuna Vete Tupou. The new treasurer is Frank Schaper, taking over from Brian Welch. Other executive members are Elizabeth Sullivan, Charlotte Cocker, Lovely Maka, Mark Santos, Judy Brabant and ‘Atolo Tu‘inukuafe.
The new executives of the TTA met for the first time on June 22 and the new president, Papiloa said that top on their working agenda for this year was to pressure Government to exempt the tourism industry from the Consumption Tax.
With regards to promotion and marketing, Papiloa said that the TTA would try and establish a closer working relationship with their counterparts in Vava‘u, Ha‘apai and ‘Eua to ensure that Tonga is marketed effectively overseas.
