FWC President Mone, re-elected at Church Conference [1]

Rev. Dr ‘Alifeleti Mone was re-elected for his eighth term as the President of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga (Siasi Uesiliani Tau'ataina 'o Tonga) in Nuku‘alofa yesterday, June 15.
When votes were counted at the church Conference Whole Committee, Dr 'Alifeleti Mone was well ahead with 249 votes. The nearest contenders were Rev. Dr ...Ahio with 51 votes, Rev. Dr Mohenoa Puloka 11, Rev. Dr ...Alamoni Paongo 10, Rev Manase Tafea 9, and Rev. Tevita Haukinima 1.
Dr 'Alifeleti Mone was first elected as president of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga in 1998, and he has been president ever since.
The Whole Committee elected a new secretary, Rev. Dr 'Ahio. replacing Rev. Penisimani Fonua who has been the secretary for the Church during the past eight years, and was not running for re-election because he was retiring at the age of 70.
Dr ...Ahio also won his post with a clear majority of 198 votes. The nearest eight contenders were Rev. Dr ...Alamoni Paongo 48, Rev. Manase Tafea 40, Rev. Dr Mohenoa Puloka 24, Rev Saia Pele 2, Rev. Tevita Haukinima 2, Rev. Sela Na...a Latu 1 and Rev. Simote Vea 1.
The 82nd conference of Free Wesleyan Church was officially opened this morning, by HM Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho. The one week conference will be closed on June 23.
