The post mortem examination on the 14-year-old girl who died on August 16 after sustaining serious injuries was completed last week on Thursday August 22, at Vaiola Hospital.

The Acting Police Commissioner ‘Unga Fa’aoa said the body had been released to family after the post-mortem was done.

He said it was evident that the victim had sustained serious injuries and bruises. No details of the post mortem were released as the matter is now with the courts.

In the meantime, three people have been charged in relation to the death, including the victim’s mother, her uncle and a woman.

The mother Fifita ‘Ofa (34) and her brother Tomasi (37) are charged with manslaughter, while a 42-year-old woman Mohulamu Toumohuni is charged with abetment.

The three accused appeared at the Nuku’alofa Magistrate’s Court on August 26 and were released on bail until September 30.
