Tongan graduates, including over 40 students who received their Masters of Business Administration celebrated their graduation from the University of the South Pacific, today Friday, July 26, when HM King Tupou VI was installed as the 20th Chancellor of the University.
This is the second time the USP graduation to be held in Tonga, and over 100 academic awards were given at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.
Seniloli ‘Inoke received a gold medal and the Quality Print Ltd. Prize in Bachelor of Arts (History/Politics) while Edgar Haak was awarded a Gold Medal and the Mechanical Services Prize for his Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Sociology.
Chancellor
King Tupou VI as Chancellor becomes the titular head of the university, who confers qualifications of the university, a traditional appointment of people of distinction from around the region.
Dr. Seu’ula Johansson Fua, the Director of the Institute of Education, USP presented students degrees, while Dr. ‘Ana Hau’alofa Koloto the Director of USP Tonga Campus presented awards in Early Childhood Education.

Mr Ikbal Jannif, the Pro-Chancellor and Chair of USP Council and Professor Rajesh Chandra, the Vice Chancellor and President participated in the ceremony which was attended by Queen Nanasipau’u, the Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata’aho and members of the royal family.
Tonga’s Acting Prime Minister Hon. Samiu Vaipulu, the Minister of Education Hon Dr. ‘Ana Taufe’ulungaki, foreign diplomats were also present together with graduate’s families and friends.
