Tupou College teacher charged for aiding damage in Tofoa attack [1]

A 43-year-old male teacher from Tupou College has been charged with aiding criminal damage in relation to a violent attack by students and ex-students, at a home in Tofoa last Thursday, July 18.

The Police Commissioner Grant O’Fee confirmed today the arrest of the teacher who was expected to appear at the Nuku’alofa Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

No further details were released but the police inquiry is proceeding under Deputy Police Commissioner ‘Unga Fa’aoa.

Two persons were injured in the attack including 15-year-old Tonga College student Daniel Mahe who is recovering, and a 22-year-old ex-student Taniela Halahuni, who remains in a coma at Vaiola Hospital after sustaining severe head injuries.
