It was a night to be remembered by the 10,000 Tongan concert-goers who packed into Nuku'alofa's Teufaiva Outdoor Stadium last night to hear the South African reggae star, Lucky Dube.
Two and a half hours of solid reggae by the Dube sent the fans, deliriously haywire with reggae, so that for $20 a ticket it was money worth spending.
Lucky Dube, who took the stage an hour late, at about 8 p.m, caused the fans to go crazy with just at the mere sight of the reggae superstar in his dread. His breathtaking voice took everyone by storm as he sang about 20 popular songs in a row like ... Born to Suffer..., ...The Other Side..., House of Exile... and Different Colors....
He left his audience spellbound and calling for more when he said his first goodnight after a non-stop two-hour show. He then came back out again on stage and gave the audience nearly another hour of his songs before bidding his farewell to Tonga.
Vaha Tu...ifua, the Manager of Aloha Entertainment, said that he was very happy with the concert attendance.
The concert began with a serious of young Tongan talents singers like Suiliasi Pole...o, Sione Faiva and Hopoi Vou.
Dube who arrived in Nuku...alofa on June 1 will return with his 11 ... member band to Lautoka, Fiji, for a night performance, today June 2.
