Lucky Dube arrives for Tonga concert [1]

Reggae Superstar Lucky Dube (41) arrived in Nuku'alofa today with his 11 ... member band gearing up for a one-night concert at the Teufaiva Stadium tomorrow evening, June 1.
Lucky Dube, a best selling African reggae musician hailing from Ermelo, Eastern Transvaal of South Africa, talks passionately about his music and how he writes songs based upon real life experiences and real things that happen daily in people's lives.
“Social issues is what I write about because that is reality and I think people identify with that," Lucky Dube told Tongan journalists at a press conference held in Nuku...alofa upon his arrival.
Lucky Dube also revealed that he cannot write love songs,“I am not a very romantic person because sometimes when you write love songs you...ve got to lie a lot - you cannot tell a person you will swim the deepest ocean for them when in fact you cannot swim yourself,” Lucky joked.
"That is why I sing only about different experiences in life because that is reality, every one of my songs has a specific message and every song deals with a certain aspect of life".
Lucky Dube who first crossed over to reggae music in the late 1980...s had started out singing in Zulu, which is a traditional South African music. He said that he changed over to reggae music because he not only wanted the people of South Africa to hear and understand his music but people from around the world.
Lucky Dube first recorded his first album 'Rastas Never Die' in 1986 and has nine collective albums namely, 'First Think About the Children' released in 1987, 'Slave, Prisoner' (1989), 'House of Exile' (1992), 'Trinity' (1995), 'Rough Guide To Lucky Dube' (2001), 'Soul Taker' (2002) and his most recent one 'The Other Side' released in 2002.
Lucky Dube said that he was planning to go into his studio soon to record his new album, which he hoped would be released, by the end of this year or early 2006.
Lucky Dube is married with five children, will return with his band to Fiji on June 2.
