Nuku'alofa, Tonga

Thursday, April 11, 2013 - 16:41.  Updated on Monday, September 9, 2013 - 18:40.

Official Foreign Reserves held by the National Reserve Bank of Tonga have decreased for the first time in five months. The official reserve for the month of February was T$258 million. This is  $2.3 million less than the reserve of $260 Million for January.

The National Reserve Bank of Tonga stated that the fall in reserves reflected “a decline in official inflows and remittances receipts.”

In 2012 there were only two months of decline. According to the National Reserve Bank official reserves have risen by $27.4 million over the past year.
