Tonga's display at the 2013 Pasifika Festival in Auckland, New Zealand, will feature a 40 man brass band and cultural groups from Tonga.
The annual festival showcasing different Pacific cultures is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors this Saturday March 9-10 in Auckland.
Ten pacific cultures from Aotearoa to Tokelau will be showcased in ten makeshift villages with food, dances and arts on display.
Co-ordinator of the Tongan village Wai Tufui said, “for me personally, I can’t wait to see the brass bands and performances from a group of people travelling specially from Tonga, as well as the National Cultural Centre group and local churches and youth groups.”
The village featuring traditional weaving and decorating of kato teu, the traditional decorations of woven bags for ceremonial functions, will receive a visit from Hon. Phaedra 'Anaseini Tupouveihola Fusitu'a, a grand-niece of the King.
