Woman appointed new Clerk of the House [1]

Gloria Guttenbeil Pole'o

Gloria Guttenbeil Pole'o was appointed as the Clerk of the House effective on Monday 28 January 2013, the Office of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga announced today.

Lord Fakafanua the Speaker of the House appointed Gloria, for approval by the House, in accordance with Clause 19 of the Legislative Assembly Act.

Gloria holds a BCom/LLB (Economics) having worked for seven years as a Crown Prosecutor, legislative drafter and secretary to the Government Law Committee.

She was also a secretary/CEO of the Royal Land Commission for three and a half years. She is a current member of the Tonga Law Society and Women in Law Association.

Gloria replaced former Clerk Sione Tekiteki who left for overseas late last year.
