King Tupou VI receives new High Commissioner for New Zealand [1]

The new High Commissioner for New Zealand, HE Mr Mark Talbot presented his letter of credence to King Tupou VI on Friday January 18.

Mr Talbot succeeds Dr Jonathan Austin, who ended his appointment as the New Zealand High Commisioner in September, 2012.

King Tupou VI extended his warm greetings to Mr Talbot and his wife Joanne, who will be spending the next two years living in Tonga.

Mr Talbot said he and his family were delighted to be settling in Tonga, and were very much looking forward to deepening and broadening cooperation between the two countries.

Prior to his appointment as High Commissioner in Nuku'alofa, Mr Talbot was Counsellor at the New Zealand High Commission in Canberra and has also worked at the New Zealand Embassy in Belgium.
