Tonga's 2012 suicide rate increases to nine [1]

Tomasi Moa (31), of Houmakelikao who was found dead on Saturday 22 December, took his own life, the Tongan Police stated yesterday, 27 December.

The Police reported that the Tongan Health Authority had confirmed that Tomasi, a bachelor, died after drinking weed killer chemicals.

They concluded that the deceased was depressed  "after experiencing some relationship problems with his girlfriend."

As of  27 December, Tonga's suicide rate for 2012 stood at nine, two more than the seven suicides recorded in 2011.
