Student's body found near Ha'avakatolo [1]

The body of missing Tonga College student, Timote Kata (15)  from Houma was found in a sea area near the village of Ha'avakatolo, Hihifo, around 1:15pm today, November 21.

Deputy Police Commissioner Taniela Faletau confirmed that the body of the teenager who went missing on a fishing expedition was found in the sea area, by men from Ha'avakatolo who were assisting the police in the search. 

The Police investigation into the incident continues.

This morning he identified the missing boy as Timote In-Peace-With-Love Kata, who had failed to return from a fishing trip at Te'ekiu on Monday evening November 19.

Mele'ana Kauvaka a 44-year old teacher from Tonga College, who was also reported missing at 1:00am on Tuesday, was found at 7:00am at  'Ahau.  She was admitted to Vaiola Hospital's intensive care unit where she was treated for exposure and exhaustion. The teacher, her husband and three other students went fishing for sea slugs on the Hihifo sand flats on Monday, and were returning at about 5:00pm. But they got caught out on the reef in the dark and lost their way, he said.
