Lord Lasike, the Speaker of the Tonga Legislative Assembly will appear for trial on one charge of unlawful possession of ammunition on Thursday, July 5 at the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court.

The Speaker's trial which was scheduled to run for three days from July 4-6, has been moved back a day because Cabinet on July 2 declared a new public holiday. on July 4 for King Tupou VI's official birthday which has been moved from July 12.

Lord Lasike pleaded not guilty to one count of unlawful possession of two .22 ammunitions on January 27, at the Supreme Court.

The count of unlawful possession of ammunition is related to two .22 rifle bullets found by police on June 28, 2010, during a search warrant conducted at a room said to have been occupied by Lord Lasike at his Sandy Boyz motel in Nuku’alofa.
