Immigration New Zealand in Nuku'alofa is alerting the public to a scam selling "visas" for New Zealand.
Ms Michelle Frankham, the Manager of Immigration New Zealand's Nuku'alofa Branch said that a scam had been discovered to be in operation in Auckland, with someone selling New Zealand visas to Tongans for $290.
She confirmed that the scheme was a scam and the visas would be rejected by the New Zealand immigration authority.
"This is a complete fraud and I want to remind everyone that INZ is the only agency that can issue a visa to travel and remain lawfully in New Zealand. Any visa or other purported authority not issued by INZ is not legitimate," said Ms Michelle Frankham.
