King in Council appoints third judge for Tonga [1]

Charles Cato of New Zealand is to join the Supreme Court of Tonga, after his appointment was confirmed by the King in Council on April 4.
The Acting CEO of the Ministry of Justice Folau Lokotui, this afternoon said his appointment as a third judge to the Supreme Court would take effect when he executes his contract of service. He is expected to arrive in Tonga next weekend.
Tonga currently has two judges, Chief Justice Hon Michael Dishington Scott and Mr Justice Robert Shuster.
The appointment of a third judge comes nearly two years after the departure of Justice Warwick Andrew in August, 2010, and the position has been vacant since then.
