Japan assists Tonga's Government Primary Schools [1]

Japan has provided $298,376 pa'anga assistance to upgrade classrooms and toilet facilities at three Government Primary Schools in Tongatapu and 'Eua.
The Japanese Ambassador in Tonga HE Mr Yasuo Takase signed the grant contracts, formalizing their assistance, with the recipients that included Tonga Side School Nuku'alofa, Folaha Government Primary School and Ha'atu'a Government Primary School in 'Eua.
The assistance includes $85,708 to upgrade toilet facilities at Tonga Side School in Nuku'alofa, $40,468 to upgrade toilet facilities for Folaha Government Primary School, and $172,200 to be used to renovate Ha'atu'a Government Primary School in 'Eua and provide a 10,000 litre water tank.
Japan's assistance is provided through it's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project, to ensure basic human needs are achieved in Tonga.
The Minister of Education, Hon Dr 'Ana Taufe'ulungaki thanked the Government and people of Japan for their assistance towards education in Tonga. She said Japan has continuously provided assistance to schools over the years through construction of new classrooms and providing technical assistance, for which they were most grateful.
Japan has financed a total of 159 GGP projects throughout Tonga since 2000.
