Six new CEO positions are expected to be finalized by the end of February.

The Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, Mishka Tu'ifua told Matangi Tonga Online on February 7, that a new government structure as directed by Cabinet is to be implemented by July 1, 2012. 

She said the six CEO positions advertised included a combination of vacant and new CEO positions, including: CEO of Infrastructure, CEO of Internal Affairs, CEO of Commerce and Tourism, CEO of Lands, Climate Change, Environment and Natural Resources, CEO of Public Enterprise and CEO of Justice. 

Government had initially announced in January that the appointment of the CEO positions would allow a well managed transition to the new structure and development of the 2012-13 Budget. Applications closed on January 25, and Mishka anticipated a decision by the end of this month. 

The proposed new structure includes 13 Ministries; 

1. Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade.
2. Prime Minister's Office.
3. Ministry of Finance, National Planning & Revenue Services.
4. Ministry of Public Enterprises.
5. Ministry of Internal Affairs.
6. Ministry of Justice.
7. Ministry of Police, Prisons & Fire Services.
8. Ministry of Health.
9. Ministry of Education & Training.
10. Ministry of Commerce & Tourism.
11. Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forests & Fisheries.
12. Ministry of Infrastructure.
13. Ministry of Lands, Environment, Climate Change & Natural Resources.
